Christmas greetings cards exchange

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The students will write and send Christmas greeting cards to partners all around Europe. They will decorate their classrooms with the cards they receive. Students will include greetings in English and what they say as an equivalent of “Merry Christmas” in their own language. TwinSpace will be used to record this expression in our different languages (and, why not, have all our students try to say the sentence in all the recorded languages!).

AIMS

  • to discover British traditions for Christmas (sending cards + greetings)
    • to write a short greeting card in English
    • to think about and share our own culture
    • to discover other European languages and cultures

WORK PROCESS

  1. Teachers exchange the addresses of their schools
    2. Students create and/or write greeting cards and send them to the different partners
    3. Students record a “Merry Christmas” in their own language and add it to TwinSpace
    4. Students decorate their classroom with the cards they receive and share a photo with their partners

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • to improve students’ language skills
  • to create a link with new partners, with the idea to share another project later
